Track Plan |
Indian Gap, Texas |
Indian Gap, Texas is located at the far eastern end of the upper level between Sweetwater,
Texas and River Oaks, Texas on the lower level. Single track
enters Indian gap from the west and becomes double track as it starts down
grade through the gap behind the helix. A spur serves a trackside
oil storage facility. The double track helix is right-hand running such that
the steeper grade on the inside track is for down grade traffic. The
length of the track in the helix (7570' inside & 8107' outside) make this a logical
passing track and staging point between levels. The real Indian Gap,
barely a bump in the road, is in hilly country 15 miles from the nearest railroad
track in Bozar, Texas. |
